By the 1940s, the extended family -- several generations of brothers, uncles, and cousins -- owned 17 meat businesses across Chicago, one of which was Calumet Meat Company. Originally a small company that sold meat and wild game to local restaurants, Calumet Meat thrives today as the wholesale division of Moo & Oink.
